The Unique Street Art of Melbourne

Melbourne (Australia) has become famous around the world for its street art culture. Hoiser Lane is Melbourne's most famous laneway for street art with many vistiors from around the world who have left their mark. Names such as Logan Hicks & Banksy can be seen there, visitors from Germany, Canada, USA & UK have also made their presence there.

There is a huge street art and graffiti culture in Melbourne. Unlike most Graffiti which is seen as a public nuisance, it is often encouraged and often even commissioned by businesses in and around Melbourne. There are even official walking tours and and art trails that center around finding and showcasing the best artwork and murals.

On a recent trip down to Melbourne I was able to take to the streets and find some unique and interesting Street Art. The following photographs were all taken in and around the central CBD area. Mainly Hosier St, Fitzroy and Carlton. The style we mainly found was Stencil Graffiti Art as well plenty of Murals and other similar intensive artworks. Not just text and type. Do you have Street art that is unique to your city? If you have taken some pictures and want to share the talent, upload them to Flickr or similar and send me the link.
I will then create articles like this featuring each city I receive in turn. Lets share with the world some fantastic street art.

The word had started to acquire associations of immorality by 1637[1] and was used in the late 17th century with the meaning "addicted to pleasures and dissipations."[citation needed] This was by extension from the primary meaning of "carefree": implying "uninhibited by moral constraints." A gay woman was a prostitute, a gay man a womanizer and a gay house a brothel.
